Ultra-thin carbon fiber prepreg
010 is a super-thin carbon fiber prepreg developed by our company in 2016 and successfully mass-produced in 2017. The fiber weight per unit area is 10g, resin content is 50%, and the total weight of the prepreg is 20g. This product is currently the lightest and thinnest unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg in the prepreg industry. Basic mechanical tests show that this prepreg has a 50% increase in 0° tensile strength compared to ordinary prepregs and a 16% increase in 0° tensile modulus. This prepreg has the following advantages compared to ordinary prepregs:
1. Size advantage. This ultra-thin prepreg has stronger design capabilities than ordinary prepregs, providing a certain design space surplus in the layering ratio.
2. After the thickness of the ultra-thin prepreg is reduced compared to ordinary prepregs, the internally buckled fiber bundles are straightened, resulting in a more uniform distribution of force. At the same time, bubbles between the layers of the prepreg are more easily expelled, significantly reducing the void ratio and improving the wettability of the laminate.
3. The thinned laminate can effectively suppress or delay the initiation and propagation of matrix cracks, with significant improvements in fatigue performance, open-hole tensile performance, and transverse shear performance.
4. In humid and hot environments, the performance of ultra-thin prepreg laminates is more stable than that of ordinary prepreg laminates.
